Nesbo never “writes the same book twice.” Even the five Harry Hole novels currently available in the U.S. Norwegian writer Jo Nesbo’s latest novel is a stand-alone, not part of his Harry Hole series, and it provides yet another example of Nesbo’s immense talent as a story-teller. “I Roger Brown, the headhunter who has never nominated a candidate for a job he did not get, who if necessary manipulates, forces, levers and rams the candidate in, who has clients who trust his judgment implicitly, who without a moment’s hesitation place their company’s fate in his – and only his – hands.” Currently shooting in Norway, the Headhunters series is set to premiere in 2022.Įight years ago, HBO was reported to have picked up rights to Nesbo’s Headhunters novel with an eye to developing a TV version, but the project never made it to screen.Note: Jo Nesbo has been nominated for many prizes for his work, and has won the Riverton Prize of 1997, the Glass Key Award for 2008, the Norwegian Booksellers Best Novel of the Year Awards for 20, and the Norwegian Book Club Prizes for Best Novel of the Year in 20. “ Headhunters will be a series in true Jo Nesbo spirit - a fast-paced mix of dark humor and thrills,” Hopland said in a statement.
Geir Henning Hopland is directing and co-wrote the screenplay together with Rolf-Magne G. The series has been set up as a co-production between Sweden’s C More and TV2 in Norway with Yellowbird Norway, a subsidiary of production giant Banijay, producing. The Norwegian thriller was a crossover hit, grossing close to $19 million worldwide. The Headhunters film, directed by Morten Tyldum, starred Aksel Hennie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The Headhunters series is set in 2002, before the main events of Jo Nesbo’s novel and the film adaptation.
